Earlier this week, I tried to make sense of just what the hell happened with the ADP and Zenefits kerfuffle. On the surface, the primary issue is about security and employee data privacy. This is a big issue, but when you step back, there are a number of lessons for HR technology customers and vendors alike to learn from this feud.
The business tech media and HR technology blogosphere erupted this week over the news about the kerfuffle between ADP, a market-leading HCM tech and service provider and Zenefits, the fast-growing Silicon Valley startup that provides free HR software in exchange for brokering corporate benefits to businesses with less than 1,000 employees.
In an early morning announcement today, Blackhawk Network, a prepaid and payments network, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Achievers. Terms were not disclosed, but Blackhawk expects the deal to close by June 30. Because Blackhawk is a publicly traded company, SEC filings will be available at that time.
